Mysterious basket o' Bunnies

Yesterday, coming back from the movies, we drove into the driveway to discover a mystery basket o' Bunnies.
Yep. All pink and fluffy and cute. There was a card that wasn't signed and had some money inside.
Wow. The Easter Bunny went a little crazy!
We found out rather quickly that Frances, Billy's aunt had delivered said bunny haul for the Easter Bunny. Guess he was busy getting those eggs dyed.
Thanks to Frances, by the way!

The money in the card has sparked some good conversation though, about what to do with money given to Lilly. She certainly doesn't have a purse or need for money. (that will come soon enough, I am afraid but for now...)

So we went down to the bank today and got her a savings account. Yay. it was funny, when I told them I wanted to start an account for my daughter, they didn't seem to blink an eye. When asked how old she was, I answered "almost 8 months" and there was definitely a strange look.
We have her all set up for a savings account and we will set it up that money from our savings account will go into her savings account on a monthly basis. Yay for Frances who got us started on this and yay for teaching her at an early age what it means to save money.
All because of a mysterious basket o bunnies.

Crawling!!!

Well, she officially took those first crawling steps today! So exciting! And so scary all at the same time.
Now we really have to get some cleaning done in the house and move LOTS of things!

We have been working on getting her to crawl for a little while now. She has been ready, just couldn't coordinate it quite yet. Each time, we would put her favorite blue ball or stuffed bear just a little out of reach and let her try to get it.
It would frustrate her more than anything else.

This morning, I was pumping and letting her play on the floor and it happened. She didn't go toward Beary, her favorite bear, or the blue ball, or anything else that she loves to play with. She went full speed toward the container of baby snacks. As if she was on a mission! Crawling over bunched up blankets on the floor. Crawling over other toys. Just to get snacks.
Yep. That is my child. It is all about the snacks.

And of course, at the time, I didn't have the video camera. (new rule of thumb, keep the camera at our side at all times!)
And of course, since then, we have tried to video her crawling several times after and she just gets tired and flops down and gets cranky. Full force crawling for snacks takes it out of a baby!

So now she is asleep on Daddy's shoulder. Hopefully she is dreaming about all the great things she can crawl and get now. Knowing her, she is dreaming about snacks. And the stuff she can now crawl to get that is not for babies. Yep. That's my girl!

Big Girl Room

My parents came into town at the end of this week and we decided to go see Avatar in 3D. This meant leaving Lils at Daycare for a few hours while we went to the movies. (she was anxious to play with Ms. Myrtle and all her friends)
I guess many of the parents of the kids at the daycare are teachers. They were having Spring Break as well and they decided to keep their kids home. Since no kids showed up that morning from Lilly's room, they sent Ms. Myrtle home.
When we showed up at noon, they asked us to take Lilly to the Crib One room. OH WOW. This room is quite big and different from the room that Lils has been in. It is the room that she will eventually graduate to when the time is right.
The room is much bigger and has LOTS of bigger baby toys, stuff Lils was quite interested in. I could tell she was going to really enjoy being in the room and playing with stuff.
They had three other babies in there, all taking a nap at the time Lils came in, so I knew there would be some fun friends to play with once they woke up. I wasn't sure, however, about how she would handle not having Ms. Myrtle or any of her other regular teachers around. She doesn't seem to handle strange grown ups well unless Mommy and Daddy are there. She seemed to, however, do really well. They all knew her and had seen and played with her before, so that made a big difference.

So while at the movies, I worried and felt guilty about leaving Lilly with people who weren't Mommy, Daddy, or Ms. Myrtle. I worried that she wouldn't eat well, nap well, or be happy there.
As soon as the movie was over, I called the school. They were happy to report that she was doing well and was flirting with a boy named Gram. Yep, Daddy would be thrilled to hear that news!

As soon as the movie was over, we rushed back to the school to pick her up. (I missed her too much, and the baby hog Grandpa needed to get his fill) She was just as happy as could be there at the school, eating and playing with Coleman and Gram. I worried for nothing.

All that playing and big girl room made her pretty tired though. As soon as we got home and got settled, she was fast asleep. I tried to wake her up around 7 to eat and get pajamas on, but she was having none of that.
Just more sleeping. Poor little girl slept till 7 the next morning.

Being in the Big Girl Room can take it out of a person.

I hadn't been too anxious to move her to the big girl Crib one room, but if it will wear her out and get her to sleep through the night better, I might just be happier about it.

Milestones

So the lils has two bottom teeth now! and another one coming in at the top! She no longer will ever have a toothless little grin. (well, until she is 90 or so)
But her Sigmond the Sea Monster impression is pretty good right now. :) And don't get your fingers too close to her little mouth or you will think you had been attacked by the fish in our fish tank! ouch!

Because of those cute little teeth, she is trying out real people food. She is in love with green beans and will take a whole one and bite off pieces for a snack. (if it makes it that far and doesn't end up on the carpet for mommy to step on later. Yeah, slimy and green... yay!)

She isn't really crawling yet. (a blessing, I figure since once she is mobile, we are in BIG trouble!) She can get around pretty well but she scoots backwards or turns herself around in some pretty great circles. She has just begun to get up on all fours and rock. I figure it will be any day now till she actually figures out the movement and starts her attack on all things in the house. I have tried warning the cat, but she doesn't seem too interested at the moment.

Lilly has just gotten the idea of clapping figured out. :) We have been showing her for a while, how it works. We have been modeling, and then guiding her hands in doing it. She just now has figured out how to coordinate and do it herself. She looks up at us every time she does it, awaiting applause herself. Yeah, our child is not hurting for self esteem. :)

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from this past week.

Hopefully, I can get one with all the teeth soon.

ARRRGGG! I got you!!!

Oh, did I scare you? I am sorry!

Video of Park Fun...

It totally forgot to mention that while hanging at the park, Ginger and I had a shadow. This girl who was almost 7, she told us several times, sort of parked herself on our blanket or above us on the playground equipment and joined us in any and all conversations we had. Here is some video of her talking... and talking, and talking and talking.
You get the picture.

Saturday, hanging with Miss Ginger and the boys.

So we hadn't seen Ginger in FOREVER so we decided to meet her halfway for a little fun.
Canton is our usual meeting spot and we hit the town excitedly, awaiting some shopping adventure. We knew it wasn't First Monday Trade days, but we thought surely, there would be some shopping available.

The breakfast place was pretty darn cute. And very kid friendly. Miles was his 8 year old self. Too wise for words and too cool for us. He did bear with us and he did humor me by talking about his recent birthday party and was quite animated to tell me about his brother's shoe shopping antics. But other than that, we were pretty much not on his cool radar. :)

The first time Owen met Lilly, he hit her in the head. This time, he was fascinated with Lilly. He wanted to sit by her, watch her as they both ate breakfast, and talk to her. They were fast friends.

Since it wasn't a trade days weekend, there was NOTHING open as far as shopping was concerned. We had to go to Walmart to get our shopping fix in. Yeah. I know.
But after that, we got ourselves some Sonic drinks and went to the park. :)

This was the first time Lils had been on the swings, or a slide. :)
So fun.

So here are pictures and video of our super fun time!

It should be mentioned that Miles was the videographer. :)

To the Park!!!

Friday, I was working at the school dance. OH MY! That is a whole other story for a whole other blog. But while I was away taking money for the dance, Billy and LIls got to go hang out at the park and have some daddy/daughter bonding.

I was totally jealous! This week has just begun the nice Spring weather and they decided to enjoy it.

Here are pictures Billy took at the park.

Lilly loved her shadow. I guess at one point, they went under a bridge and the shadow went away and she just couldn't figure out what went wrong!

New Posts coming soon...

I know, it has almost been a month since we have posted anything. And trust me LOTS of things have happened. Problem is, I am rarely in front of the computer these days without little hands trying to help me. And then when I get her in bed, we are all too exhausted to even think about posting to the blog!

But now that Spring Break is upon us, I am ready to post some new updates!

So let's begin!
